Illustrative Commissions

My commissions are usually character illustrations. I do the work in steps and so I charge based on them. I do them by sketch, digital inking, colouring, and background. The digital inking takes the longest, sometimes more so than the full colouring, because I take the initial sketch in and go over the anatomy of the original sketch to perfect it. I've completely redrawn things in photoshop sometimes to make sure everything works.

The prices I usually go by are:

• Sketch: $15 CAD
• Digital Ink: $30 CAD
• Basic Colour*: $35 CAD
• Complex Colour: $45
• Mucha Special**: $60-70

*The difference between "Basic Colour" and "Complex Colour" is the shading and lighting. It takes way more effort in shading and lighting for me so it can get more expensive. I wanted an alternative for people who wanted their illustration to be in colour but couldnt afford shading/lightning.

**The Mucha Special refers to the large illustrations that include characters and Mucha styled background pieces. They aren't exactly like the Mucha style but are inspired in the way the patterns work. These are more expensive purely for the background work. Pieces made of just shapes and textures can be easier unless there are a lot of complex shapes. Others, where I must actually digitally draw or paint a background within the shapes are harder. I've had both these before.

This is in the list due to the popularity of it.

Graphic/Web Freelance

When working with freelance, the price varies depending on the size of the projected, the expected work, and estimated time it'll take to finish. So far my web design and development work has been for free due to the relationship or volunteer work. Graphic design work is up for discussion.
